"A Vision for
Buckeye"
I have had the
pleasure of working with Jackie Meck for the past ten years.
Jackie
demonstrated his organizational and leadership abilities
following his election as President of the Agri-Business
Council of Arizona (ABC). The Agri-Business Council is a
diverse group of agriculturists, irrigation districts,
university professors and a host of business representatives
who meet once a month to discuss water related issues on a
local, state and national level. Members had expressed
concern that our meetings were unorganized and lengthy.
Jackie implemented a new approach to the meetings by having
a printed agenda for each meeting that defined the topic and
allocated a time limit to devote to each topic. After two or
three meetings members began to express a new interest in
ABC. Membership and attendance increased dramatically over
the next four years. The Agri-Business Council of Arizona is
now recognized nationally as a leader in water issues. For
many years a new ABC President was elected annually from the
membership. Jackie was unanimously elected to President for
four consecutive years. Wherever you go with Jackie you will
meet someone, be it a well known businessman, politician or
the neighbor down the street, who has worked with Jackie on
a board or committee.
Jackie was
born in Buckeye, attended grade school, high school, married
his Buckeye sweetheart, raised his family and earned his
living in Buckeye. I believe Jackie has a clear vision of
Buckeye's past, present and future and has the knowledge and
leadership qualities to do what needs to done to facilitate
positive future growth. Jackie is a visionary and is devoted
to his hometown. Jackie Meck, a retired businessman, will be
a great full time Mayor.
Respectfully submitted,
Stanley H. Ashby
